RESTON, VA – Qlarion, a government contractor that specializes in Big Data and business intelligence solutions for the federal government, has collaborated with George Washington University to create a new continuing education
course,“Big Data and the Business of Data-Driven Government.”
Qlarion and GW’s Center for Excellence in Public Leadership designed this course together after realizing that government employees were being inundated with information about Big Data tools but were still looking for clear information about how those tools could be effectively applied—and create business value—within their organizations. The program is designed specifically for government agency leaders and managers who want a better understanding of how Big Data and BI can help them solve problems, reduce costs and improve outcomes within their agencies.
“Everyone is talking about data-driven government,” said Bittner, “but if leaders in the government truly want their agencies to become data-driven, they need a solid understanding of the fundamental concepts, processes and techniques required to transform data into insights and insights into results.”
The first part of the one-day course is instructor-led, while the second half is focused on real world applications, including an interactive workshop on case studies from federal agencies. The course will show attendees how to build a framework for managing data-driven solutions, produce a management plan with a success roadmap, and understand the actual application of analytics solutions in government work. By the end of the course, participants will be able to diagnose a situation within their organization that could benefit from analytics and establish a plan for delivering a data-driven solution.
“The interactive nature of the workshop is what makes it so effective,” said Bittner. “The combination of GW’s experience as a recognized brand in delivering world-class education and Qlarion’s past performance in developing BI solutions make this course incredibly valuable for attendees. We’re focused on ensuring tangible results for participants.”
The methodology discussed during the course will draw from Qlarion’s experience creating Big Data solutions for a number of public sector customers, including federal agencies (IRS, Department of Education, Center for Medicaid Services, NIH, among others) and state and local governments (the City of Boston, Commonwealth of Virginia, Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and the DC Government).
